Description
Researchers from universities in Lesotho and Germany have cooperated in a joint research project, which aimed at exploring the situation of children at risk in both countries. Thus, similarities and differences between the situation of children at risk in Lesotho and Germany can be elucidated.
At first, the contributions from both countries show risk factors that apply to vulnerable children, and/or risk groups of those who are most likely of being at risk. From the perspective of both countries, it is also explored which measures are taken to mitigate the risks for children. In further contributions, common care models as well as alternative care arrangements in Lesotho and Germany are examined. Again, from the perspective of both countries, ways on how empowerment and participation of the children can be means to reduce the risks for children are described.
In general, the book presents a combination of theoretical foundations, applied sciences and best practice examples. Therefore, it will be possible to deepen the understanding about children at risk in both countries, which should result in a simultaneous learning process from each other.
