Description
In most cases, multicomponent distillation is real industrial application for fluid separations, while intensified systems for multicomponent distillation can have significant savings in both energy and capital costs. The aim of this book is to provide the systematic synthesis methods for various intensified multicomponent distillation systems, including heat-integrated systems, systems with fewer columns, and DWC systems. The focus will be on both systematic synthesis methods and the structural spaces of the various intensified systems, so that all the possible intensified systems and their synthesis methods are provided.

Ben-Guang Rong, PhD, is an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering at University of Southern Denmark (SDU, Odense). He has over 20 years of teaching and research experience in Chemical Engineering and Process Systems Engineering. His areas of research expertise relate to process synthesis and design, distillation technology, energy efficient distillation systems, process modeling, simulation, and optimization. He has authored and co-authored more than 80 papers in peer reviewed Journals and Proceedings. He also co-authored the book, "Steady-State Process Simulation Techniques."
From 1989-1998, he worked as a lecturer and associate professor at Qingdao University of Science and Technology (Qingdao, China), where he was a member of the team who developed the Process Simulator ECSS (Engineering Chemistry Simulation System), which has been commercialized and widely used in industries, universities, and research institutes in China. During 1999- 2008, he worked as a senior researcher and Docent at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT, Finland), where he taught graduate courses of Advanced Process Simulation and Process Intensification. He is currently teaching the undergraduate courses of Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Chemical Process Design, Process Simulation, and the graduate course of Industrial Separation Technologies at SDU.
