Clive Richardson was honorary secretary/treasurer of the Fell Pony Society for nearly ten years. As a successful exhibitor of native ponies both in this country and abroad, he won innumerable championships at national level before retiring from showing to concentrate on judging and writing. He is on a number of judges' panels and has judged extensively in this country as well as in America and on the continent. As well as writing three previous books on Fell ponies and many magazine articles on native breeds, he has produced a compilation of Fell pony bloodlines from 1898 to 1980 inclusive. Clive Richardson is also the author of The Horse Breakers.
