Description
Traditionally, the interest paid to conditional constructions -- e.g., if President Kennedy hadn't flown to Dallas, then Oswald wouldn't have been shot -- has neglected the analysis of other ways to express counterfactual reasoning. This study reveals significant differences in the grammatical devices to encode counterfactuality in French compared to Spanish and French L2 beyond conditional constructions.
