Sula

Part of the "Kelpie Topic Studies" series, this teachers' handbook takes the storyline from the Kelpie novel "Sula", and develops investigative activities encompassing a wide range of thinking and practical skills. The topic studies aim to help teachers plan how to approach their work on the novel, to provide new ideas for practical activities, and to enhance the value of oral, written, and other classroom work. The activities can also be good starting points for a range of cross-curricular work in the areas of expressive and language arts and environmental studies. Each pack contains a copy of the novel and a teacher's handbook. The handbook provides selected key extracts from the novel, descriptions of the purpose of the novel, a list of materials needed to undertake each activity, suggestions for classroom organization, and a list of discussion points and outcomes.
