Support for implementation of FSW on milling machines by use of an empirical approach

Key machine parameters infl uencing the friction stir welding process are identifi ed and quantifi ed depending on machine and machine build type. Furthermore, strategies for the extension of the machine spectrum usable for friction stir welding are shown.
