Reviews / Votes
"Training Human Service Staff: Evidence-Based Strategies for Promoting Effectiveness, Efficiency, and Trainee Acceptance by Dennis Reid and Carolyn Green represents the latest book by these authors that have produced extensive evidence based research as well as comprehensive programs in staff training conducted in-person and via technology in distance learning. There are three highlights of their new book that stand out to me. First, as in many of their other books, Key Points are highlighted within bold text boxes that are interspersed throughout each chapter and many chapters include case illustrations of how certain strategies are developed and used. Second, each chapter includes a summary of Key Points that allows the reader to review the major emphasis of each chapter that can also be used as guidelines for staff training. And third, the final Section of the book contains an outstanding number of Selected Readings that are explicitly grouped in related topics that greatly expand on chapter contents for interested readers. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in developing and improving their staff training programs in human services knowing that it is evidence based and includes the important topic of trainee acceptance of the training procedures that are used." -- R.M.
