Description
Around one in nine young people in the UK will run away overnight before the age of 16, and one of the key factors that has been linked to running away is the structure of the family in which young people live. This work looks at how the experience of running away varies for different family forms - two-parent families, lone-parent families and stepfamilies. The report presents findings on the reasons for differential rates of running away, making it clear that these are both more complex and more varied than has been understood up until now. It draws out lessons to be learnt and makes recommendations for ways in which running away can be reduced. These focus on providing support for children and young people in changing families.
