Shazia Razzack was born in Rawalpindi, in Pakistan, and came to live in the United Kingdom when she was two. She took her BSc (Hons) in Human Biology at the University of East London before training to be a teacher and has been teaching in East London ever since. She lives in Wanstead, London. Prodeepta Das was born in Cuttack, in eastern India. He is a freelance photographer and author whose pictures have been published in over 20 children's books. In 1991 Inside India, which he also wrote, won the Commonwealth Photographer's Award.
