Disease Management

In recent years, pharmacy undergraduate teaching in the UK has changed to
reflect the evolving role of the pharmacist in primary care. Greater
emphasis is now placed on the disease or medicines management
activities of the community pharmacist.

Disease Management in Primary Care is a new text-book that concentrates on
the holistic approach to patient care - it forms a comprehensive overview
of disease states and prescribing issues to be considered when presented
with a drug history in the primary care setting.
Disease Management is arranged over 10 parts, with each part containing
discussions of several specific diseases. Disease discussions are highly
structured and the choice of drugs and their use with individual patients
are emphasised. Information is also provided on how other factors such as
age, concurrent illness and drug interactions affect treatment. Counselling
and monitoring are considered at length and numerous case studies have been
included.
