Description
Open systems in general and interoperability of multi-vendor systems are becoming leading topics of concern to many IT strategists. Vendors of hardware and software tools are now aiming to supply their products to a level which is becoming the de fact standard. Loosely these are called open systems, but more formally - or rather from a pragmatic point of view - the real interest is that of integrated systems which are fully interoperable. This book aims to allow readers to discover the choices available within an open-systems environment, to discuss independent frameworks for successful strategies and implementation, and to become up-to-date with the relevant plans and product offerings from the manufacturers. The book also offers a forum for discussion and debate covering vendor strategies and the role of end users in relation to this approach.
