Alicia tells the spellbinding story of young, free-spirited Mexican, Alicia Serrano, who experiences romance, tragedy and hope in her adventurous life. Alicia's life is beset with challenges and setbacks from the moment she's born in 1960. From an early age she must develop a steely resolve to overcome them. She is highly intelligent and a gifted athlete, characteristics she shares with her older brother Andrés. An outstanding runner, he's caught up in the political turmoil engulfing Mexico in 1968 before the Olympic Games.
