The Periodic Table of the Elements

Mendeleev drew up the first periodic table of the chemical elements in 1868-70. The periodic table has since provided a basis for understanding the enormous developments in inorganic chemistry. It continues to play a fundamental role in the planning of new developments in chemistry. This new edition includes the discovery of several new elements and many new chemical compounds. It has been exapnded to give more examples of periodic trends in the properties of the elements and their compounds.
