The Psalms

Drawing on translations from the original Hebrew, both ancient and modern, this anthology brings together 100 of the Psalms that have spoken most directly to the spiritual needs of Christians and Jews throughout the ages. While the 23rd Psalm is regarded as one of the best-loved poems, there are many more of the 150 poems in the Hebrew Psalter which rank among the most highly regarded and widely read in the world. The book groups the Psalms according to their major literary types, and ranges over many emotions, from the depths of doubt and despair to the heights of joy, hope and thanksgiving.
