Applications of Petri Nets to Production Systems

Petri nets are mathematical visualizations of manufacturing systems used in the design of flexible, integrated and concurrent production systems, and allow analysis and evaluation without the use of simulation techniques. The first part of the book presents the theory of petri nets, and also covers the most recent developments. The second part examines applications to manufacturing engineering systems including modelling, analyzing, optimization and managing, with numerous demonstrations by worked examples and solved exercises. Specific algorithms for planning and scheduling are also provided.
