Description
This research explains the behavior of bending collapse on Carbon Fiber Reinforce Plastic/Polymer (CFRP) material. CFRP material nowadays started to be used by automaker. Previously, there was only the aerospace and aviation industry which applied this material, because CFRP is expensive. Furthermore, it was only specific automotive industry using this material, there are exotic cars and racing car manufacturer like Formula 1 and many others sport car. Nowadays, manufacturing technology increases significantly. Automotive industry is trying to build the chassis by combining steel and CFRP material. In the future, the car chassis is possible to be made from the whole CFRP material. Therefore, it is very important to understand the behavior of CFRP material in term of crashworthiness aspect. To achieve the research objectives, the behavior of the structure under bending collapse load is investigated by using numerical simulation. The results are compared with previous material which is used by automotive industry, such as steel.
