The Grass Dancer

Set on a North Dakota reservation, inter-connected stories are related of Sioux men and women from 1876 to the early 1980s. Each generation has to deal with pressures from the past even to the extent of inheriting magical powers; characters seem inhabited by ancient wisdom and weaknesses.
