Description
Filled with over 2,000 photographs, this book is an attractive and easy-to-use reference guide to the last 125 years of industrial design. The four hundred entries that structure the book, arranged from A to Z, include designers, studios, and companies from across the international design spectrum - from Alvar Aalto, the Finnish glass and furniture designer, to Zumtobel Staff, an Austrian light manufacturer. Examples of objects featured include lighting, cars, furniture, electronic appliances, glass, ceramics, and flatware, to name a few. Each entry is illustrated with multiple examples and accompanied by a timeline and an informative text, which include biographical details, company histories, and product information. Inter-textual arrows and names in boldface throughout refer the reader to related entries and aid the reader in understanding the interconnectedness of the universe of design.
