Alex J. Pollock is the author of Boom and Bust and Finance and Philosophy--Why We're Always Surprised, and co-author of Surprised Again! He is a Senior Fellow with the Mises Institute, and past positions include Principal Deputy Director of the Office of Financial Research in the U.S. Treasury, fellow at American Enterprise Institute, and President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. Pollock focuses on financial policy issues, including financial systems, political finance, central banking, uncertainty and risk, housing finance, and financial cycles. He is a graduate of Williams College, the University of Chicago, and Princeton University. He and his wife, Anne, have four grown children and ten grandchildren, and live in Lake Forest, Illinois.
