Description
Maintaining the strong pedagogy, abundant student-friendly examples, and engaging conversational style of the previous editions, the seventh edition of this introductory textbook introduces sensation and perception in an accessible and reader-friendly way.
Covering a wide range of core topics, the book explores skin senses such as touch, chemical senses like taste and smell, and our complex visual and auditory systems. Behavioral, physiological, and neuroscience studies are also used to emphasize a holistic approach to the field. This edition includes additional up-to-date material on facial recognition and prosopagnosia, tinnitus, and pain perception. Each chapter also features content on changes in perception across the lifespan, as well as medical disorders that disrupt perception. The book is packed with real-world examples and practical applications of psychological phenomena, and is also accompanied by downloadable resources to test and extend student learning.
Written in an engaging conversational style, the seventh edition of Sensation and Perception is ideal reading for undergraduate students of psychology and any students who are beginning to specialize in cognitive psychology and biological psychology.
