The objectives of the book are as follows: first, to develop a conceptual model-framework for the analysis of the determinants of value-wealth creation at firm, regional and national levels, and (thus) for productivity, competitiveness and convergence; second, to examine the respective roles of foreign direct investment and clusters of small and medium sized enterprises on productivity and competitiveness; third, to provide evidence and forum on focuses on particular firm clusters and applies the conceptual framework of productivity and competitiveness to cases for selected transition economics; fourth, to develop a methodological tool for mapping and diagnosing clusters in these countries in order to examine their nature, maturity and effects on productivity; and, finally, to discuss policy implications for improving productivity, competitiveness and convergence of the four participating countries."The International Business and Management Series" provides an international perspective to the study of business, with a special emphasis on management and marketing issues.
