Dottie resides in Bellevue, Ohio where she retired from the Bellevue Public Schools as a second grade teacher. Teaching second graders is where she got the ideas for her poems. They were based on the different seasons, holidays or whatever they were studying. She believes that children need to stimulate their brains with memorization so several of these poems were used for this purpose. Dottie is also a composer and uses her gift of poetry in the lyrics of the many songs and cantatas she has written. She and her husband, Jim, live in Bellevue. Their children and grandchildren are scattered throughout Bellevue and Texas. When growing up, she and her Dad would write poetry notes to each other. Thanks to him, she now has no trouble with writing poems. Her mother was also a poet and the poem, "Ghosts" was written by her. She would be so surprised to be included in this book.
