Born in Sri Lanka, Chris Pereira developed a passion for motorcycle racing at an early age, inspired by his father's English motorcycle magazines. In the UK, he worked with racing dealer Arthur Taylor, attended major races, and raced competitively throughout the 60s, later participating in Vintage and Classic events. He competed in the 1984 Classic Manx Grand Prix and contributed extensively to the historical record of motorcycling through articles and books. He spent his later years in Berkshire with his wife Sondra.
