This stunning high-gloss photographic book features:
* Welsh celebrities including Stuart Cable, Ryan Giggs and Wales' most famous couple Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson
* All innovatively photographed
* 'Behind the scenes' documentary includes the thought process of the photoshoot from idea to reality
* Celebrity interviews -- Publisher: Graffeg All nations need heroes and cultural icons and Wales is no different. It is our icons that often define us internationally, acting as ambassadors and promoters to a wider world, which can at times have a scant idea that Wales is a distinct country in its own right, and at home, providing us with the role models to bolster confidence. Icons look great in black and white too, and even better nicely bound in a coffee-table book.
It is quite possible that the photographer, Terry Morris, had similar thoughts in his head when he conceived the idea of The Cool Cymru Collection. The collection, originally intended as an exhibition of works to raise the profile of the Children's Hospital for Wales, includes some of Wales's most recognizable sons and daughters. Its existence is testament to the photographer's tenacious spirit, and contains not only the final eight images of the chosen icons, but also a photographic and written journey describing how this relatively unknown artist used all the resources open to him (including more than once enlisting the help of the mothers of the rich and famous!) to get the right people in front of his camera.
Recapturing something of the 1990s Cool Cymru sensation, the collection also taps into the unquestionably positive influence of the phenomenon. It contains interviews with and photographs of Stuart Cable, Charlotte Church, Gavin Henson, Bryn Terfel, Ryan Giggs, Rhys Ifans, Dame Shirley Bassey, Ioan Gruffudd and Joe Calzaghe. -- Michael Nobbs @ www.gwales.com
