Description
While there are books on Processing, there are currently no books devoted to the subject of Generative Art, despite it being a popular topic among Flash developers and other new media artists. This book will show the reader how to use Processing and other open source tools to generate original artwork, providing new inspiration to both programmers and artists.

Person
I am Matt Pearson, a writer and coder based in Brighton UK. I was Head of Development for a large eLearning company until Feb 2008, now I make my living as a Freelance ActionScript Specialist.
I am known in my field for having a rare mix of creative and technical abilities and I'm well respected for my writing. My blog http://zenbullets.com/ averages 40,000 page views per month, which is impressive considering it is little more than a stream of random thoughts that have escaped my brain. In December last year it won "best blog" at the DiMAS awards. I write more serious articles on the subject of ActionScript at http://actionscripter.co.uk too, but only the techies read that one.
More recently I attracted attention for my 100 Abandoned Artworks Generative Art project (http://abandonedart.org), where I set myself the challenge of publishing one Generative Art piece a week for as long as I could keep it up. This is where the idea for my book originated.
