Part two covers important functional areas of particular relevance in the medical field - embryonic development, cellular signal transmission, immune system, oxygen-transmitting gene systems, growth factors, carcinogenic genes and numerous other functions. The book includes 174 colour charts, comprising 100 on basic genetics, 64 on functional areas and 10 on genome organization. There is standard colour coding on charts used throughout. Each page of textual explanation juxtaposed to corresponding chart.
