Climate Change and the World Economy

To date, assessments of the consequences of global warming and climate change have been limited to biophysical rather than socio-economic impacts. This book brings together what is known about the likely effects of climate change on all the sectors of the world economy. Sectors covered include agriculture and food supply, water supply and human health, human settlement and habitat, mining and manufacturing and energy and transport. The authors also discuss what policies might mitigate the expected effects. Martin Parry headed the IPCC team assessing the impact on agriculture and the Department of the Environment committee examining climate change impacts on the British economy.
