Description
The aim of the book is to expose the "state of art" of this moving field. It speaks of some advances made in the last century, discuss a few difficult problems that remain to be solved, and, above all, show the very ways left open. It is obvious that the solution of classification problems cannot lie in empirical clustering analysis or computer science but in an algebra of classifications (which suppose studies of finite and infinite partition chains, covers, partition lattices, trees.) and required order theory, algebraic topology and set theoretical approaches.
