Fran Parnell lives in Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, although her heart lives in Iceland, with the trolls. She has always loved monster tales, "the bigger and badder the better!"? Previously a Barefoot Books editor, her published work includes The Barefoot Book of Monsters! (Barefoot Books, 2003) and Copenhagen (Insight Guides, 2012).
Known for her exuberant illustrations, Sophie Fatus is a French artist who lives and works in Florence, Italy. While working on The Barefoot Book of Monsters!, in which The Feathered Ogre was originally published, Sophie particularly enjoyed creating monsters "that are loveable and scary at the same time."? She has illustrated a number of other top-selling products for Barefoot Books, including the Yoga Pretzels activity deck (2005) and the follow-up picture book My Daddy is a Pretzel (2012). She is also the illustrator of the Global Kids: 50+ Games, Crafts, Recipes & More from Around the World activity deck (Barefoot Books, 2019).
