New Architecture

This volume investigates the diverse directions of architecture today. Charles Jencks explores the New Moderns, Conrad Jameson the Super Moderns; Kenneth Frampton presents the case for the Tectonic; and Norman Foster presents his Master Plan for King's Cross with an edited version of his lecture given at the RIBA, illustrated with the latest drawings of the scheme. The Rolling Stones stage set for the Steel Wheels tour is the subject of three articles boldly rejoicing in the urban landscape of the 20th century. Catherine Cooke and Ivor Richards discuss work at the Cardiff School of Architecture and Rob Krier comments on the architecture of Gustav Piechl. Also presented is a collection of work from Claudio Silvestrin, who has designed the recent exhibition "Gravity and Grace" at the Hayward Gallery, London.
