Automotive Fuels Reference Book

This book addresses the questions that have arisen since the second edition (1995); such as the implications of the concept of vehicle and fuel as a single system, and fuel's contribution to emissions control, and international demands for low emissions performance while maintaining specifications with good drivability and freedom from knock. However, some misconceptions persist. What part do fuels really play in environmental improvement? This publication puts such issues into perspective. Changes in fuel characteristics cannot be made in isolation. An improvement in one direction is often a detriment in another. The concept of vehicle and fuel as a single system must consider global warming concerns, bearing in mind that more intensive refining entails higher energy consumption at the refinery.
