Clearly stated in Vedic literature it says that the eternal power or concept of Absolute Consciousness is such that the very act of contemplating eternal existence can dispel all sorrows or at least can help in the dispelling of them. It goes on to say that even an understanding of those laws is illuminating to living beings and the messages themselves can inspire even unheeding ears. The need is to distinguish between the changeless truth and the changing scene and scrutinise the world comprised of these two factors. Phenomena is constantly changing while subjective consciousness or Absolute Consciousness is changeless The Vedas describes signs of weaknesses in human nature and gives knowledge of impediments and what are termed as mental impurities and suggesting ways of overcoming them.. The Vedas states that the universe eternally oscillates between manifestation and non-manifestation. The advice Saint Dattatreya always gave was in turning the mind inward and of the importance of the one-pointness of mind.
