Bone Metastasis

This multiauthored book is about the current concepts of the pathophysiology of secondary bone cancer. The writers are all active investigators with research programs on the mechanisms of bone metastasis and have reviewed the current status of knowledge in their respective areas of research. The first part of the book deals with interactions between cancer cells and the unique microenvironment in bone, emphasizing the influence of the latter on cancer cell adhesion and growth. Later sections cover the mechanisms of tumor-mediated osteolysis, animal models, and implications of the pathophysiology for therapy. This is the first book about bone metastasis to focus on the mechanisms and pathophysiology of this disease.
