Description
Past ghosts may come back to haunt you
Dirk, the chief compineer on Miranda for the last ten years, has two secrets: he is on the run from Mars accused of starting a rogue nano-plague, despite being innocent; and he has a nano-ghost that enhances his performance as compineer.
Following the discovery of the mysterious ring entrance in Verona Rupes, scientists are flocking to Miranda. The increased interest in the backwater mining colony has led to two Bolters (Martian Police) coming to Miranda in their search for Dirk. One is the real criminal behind the nano-plague and the other is his mother.
While hiding from the Bolters, Dirk makes a discovery about the ring entrance that could spell disaster for the whole of Miranda. But how can he warn everyone about the danger without being caught?

Rosie Oliver has been in love with science fiction ever since as a teenager she discovered a whole bookcase of yellow-covered Gollancz science fiction books in Chesterfield library in central England. It sent her on a world-spinning imaginary journey from the depths of Earth's oceans to multi-verses with varying time speeds, and beyond! After obtaining a degree in mathematics at Oxford University and having a down to Earth career as an aeronautical engineer turned systems engineer, she can now devote her time to gardening, needlework, being an Association of Show and Competition Judges handicraft judge and writing science fiction. She has had around fifty of her short stories published (one ended up in the Best of British Science Fiction 2020 anthology) and been a Finalist in the Writers of the Future Contest. Her other varied science fictional activities included obtaining an MA in creative writing from Bath Spa University, being a co-editor of the Distaff anthology and blundering her way into being a minor contributor to a research paper on the northern lights. Her debut novel, Edge of Existence, C.A.T. - the novel, was published by TWB Press in 2023. Yes, she loves cats, meat or robot AI, but especially the rascally ginger ones. A Truth Beyond Full, published by Elsewhen Press, followed a year later.
