ASHLEY OLIPHANT is a nationally recognized seashell and shark tooth hunter who offers workshops, lectures, courses, and excursions for ocean enthusiasts wanting to improve their beachcombing strategy. She is the author of Shark Tooth Hunting on the Carolina Coast and four other books, including two novels and biographies of Ernest Hemingway and Jean Laffite. After retiring as an English professor with twenty years of service and stints as the chair of an English department and a humanities department, Oliphant pursued her passion for the sea and became a full-time writer and ocean educator. She now travels all over the country sharing her expertise with eager audiences and visiting the best shelling beaches on the planet.
