Una niña no encuentra su tierra natal en un mapa. ¿Dónde está Palestina? No aparece… Layla necesita respuestas, necesita entender. Y pregunta a su familia.
Layla y sus compañeros en el cole tienen la tarea de encontrar los países de origen de sus familias en un mapa, pero por mucho que busque, Layla no logra encontrar Palestina. ¿Puede existir un lugar si no está en un mapa? Confundida, recurre a su familia en busca de respuestas. Su abuelo, su abuela y su mamá le muestran su tierra natal desde una perspectiva diferente, y cada relato la ayuda a comprender la historia de su pueblo y su propio lugar en el mundo.

Layla and her classmates have been tasked with finding their families' countries of origin on a map. But no matter how hard she looks, Layla can't find Palestine. Can a place exist if it's not on a map? Confused, she turns to her family for answers. Her grandfather, grandmother, and mother show her her homeland from a different perspective, and each story helps her understand the history of her people and her own place in the world.

Aliaa Betawi is a self-taught Palestinian artist based in Alexandria, Egypt who developed her craft by observing her gifted mother. She believes that every kid deserves a childhood filled with magical, joyful memories and this is what she works to give to all kids, including herself. A Map for Falasteen was her opportunity to capture a single elusive memory in Palestine, a memory she could not enjoy as a Palestinian child in exile.
