Linguistics at Work : A Reader of Applications

Illustrating how linguistic theory effects change in the "real world", this text demonstrates the applications of linguistic theory in law, medicine, business, education, social policy, translation, literary analysis and other fields. The book is divided into nine chapters with four to six readings, each covering examples of applications of linguistic knowledge and theories. Two contents lists are provided, the first according to application and the second according to the type of linguistic knowledge being applied. There are discussion questions at the end of each chapter.
