Description
Thoroughly updated and revised, the tenth edition of the highly regarded British Civilization: An Introduction continues to be the market-leading textbook on Britain, its country and people, religion, politics and government, international relations, legal system, economy, education, media and culture for students of British studies.
Examining central structural features of British society, the book provides an introduction to British civilization that highlights its history of cultural, geographical and human diversity. The book has been updated to include more on race, class and gender, the impacts and results of and debates around Brexit up to the present day, and the huge impact the COVID pandemic has had across Britain as well as changing international events which have had significant impact, such as the war in Ukraine and the resulting refugee and fuel crises. This updated edition also includes exercises, questions, and suggestions for further reading and lists of useful websites that stimulate class discussion and provide a springboard upon which students can develop their own independent study, full-colour illustrations, and is supported by free Instructor and Student Resources available at www.routledgelearning.com/britishcivilization.
British Civilization is the perfect introduction to the crucial and complex nature of Britain and its peoples, culture and society, past and present.
