What a brilliant and fun picture book! A fantastic story (loads of word-play and references that make it a great read for grown-ups, too) with plenty of action and ideas that pull children right into the story. There is a strong reference to never giving up on your dreams, creative problem-solving, resilience and the importance of friendship. The illustrations are bright, cheerful and packed full of expression. This is the perfect story to start off your springtime reading. Funny, charming, adventurous, clever...it's just wonderful! -- Fallen Star Stories With a light-touch message about the importance of persevering and gentle championing of STEM skills, Paul Nugent's adventure is funny, satisfying and repeat readings will find lots of new things to enjoy. There are jokes for grown-ups to enjoy (take a look at the titles of the books scattered about the floor in Ferguson's studio for example) and everyone will find Amelia and Ferguson delightful -- Books for Keeps' Book of the Week Nugent's illustrations are full of character and children will love reading about Amelia's adventures -- Irish Independent light as a feather and with plenty of puns, this is a tale of perseverance with plenty of humour speckled throughout -- Irish Examinerjust unbelievable -- Librarians Tracy and Jennie on RTE Radio 1's Claire Byrne show This delightful story is utterly charming, and funny too! Amelia never gives up, and she's a great role model for trying again, even when things don't work out. Through resilience and determination Amelia makes her dream come true, but she wouldn't be there without Ferguson and this book is a wonderful reminder of all the supporters in our team who never give up on us either, whether cheering us on or building inventions to help, this is a book for the Fergusons in our lives too. With witty, energetic illustrations, this book is guaranteed to make you smile and have you rooting for Amelia. We loved the references to Irish landmarks too! -- Milo & Gigi's Bookshelf
