Interpreting the Text

An introductory text, tracing the emergence of interpretative criticism as a major form of literary criticism in Anglo-American New Criticism. Its relation to hermeneutics, and attacks on interpretation as a critical method by traditional, structuralist and post-structuralist critics are explored.
