Description
In order to thrive we all need a home where we can safely be ourselves. The pressures of the new century, however, make such a refuge increasingly rare. Angela Neustatter uncovers the ways in which people create a home for their heart in very different circumstances. What mindset works best? Does it matter how a home is divided up? Why are some homes living hells? Her investigation spans from her own family to the Australian estate of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch to a crumbling tower-block in London; from a lesbian house share in a small town Texas to an eco-village in Wales. Our homes can again become a cure for happiness, if we find a new way of looking at what we have.
