Description
A comprehensive and introductory chemistry textbook that uses programmed self-instruction. The course was thoroughly tested in the classroom and in face-to-face tests. The program uses a mixture of linear programming (after Skinner) and branched programming (after Crowder). It can be used as a supplement by students taking chemistry or by employees in industry who have no background in chemistry. Part 1 provides 27 programs of general and inorganic chemistry plus two programs that introduce organic chemistry. Part 2 delves into organic chemistry, but does not presuppose a mastery of Part 1, except for a knowledge of elementary inorganic chemistry and stoichiometry.
