ALI H. NAYFEH, PhD, is a University Distinguished Professor of Engineering Science and Mechanics at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia. Professor Nayfeh is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Nonlinear Dynamics and the Journal of Vibration and Control. He has authored or coauthored a number of books, including Applied Nonlinear Dynamics (with Bala Balachandran), Methods of Normal Forms, Introduction to Perturbation Techniques, Nonlinear Oscillations (with Dean T. Mook), and Perturbation Methods, all from Wiley.
