Reviews / Votes
This is the book the Chinese teaching community has been waiting for - informative for veteran and novice language teachers as well as teacher trainers. Rather than focusing on specific technology tools, it provides examples of approaches and techniques, a "how to" integrate all types of instructional technologies into Chinese programs at all proficiency levels. Dr. Navarre clearly explains current language acquisition theories and illustrates how technology can help students learn new linguistic concepts. As they consider their own Chinese program goals and institutional technology infrastructures, teachers and curriculum designers will find various models they can tailor to their needs.Gisela Hoecherl-Alden, Director of Language Instruction, Boston University, USA.
Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning of Chinese as a Foreign Language was written with foreign language teachers and learners in mind. It did an excellent job in sorting out the myriad of rapid-changing technology to serve student learning. It carefully walked readers through principles of choosing the right technology, available tools to practice all aspects of language skills, and classroom applications of such tools. The book is thorough, thoughtful, and practical in its treatment of the topic. It is a valuable reference book for those who wish to use technology to better meet students' learning needs.
