Description
The third edition of Complete Guide to Size Specification and Technical Design equips students with everything they need to know about measuring sample garments, creating fully graded spec sheets, fitting garments, and grading patterns for production. Over 500 technical flats are clearly labeled with measurement points and instructions for taking measurements. The book includes spec sheets for different types of garments and industry forms explained within the context of the production process. An entire section is devoted to correcting fitting issues with pattern alterations and grade rules for both number and letter sizing. The accompanying downloadable templates and forms allow readers to develop their own private label specification sheets and improve their technical design skills.

Reviews / Votes
This book proved to be invaluable. It is clear and accurate and contains very precise flats that are extremely useful in aiding students to understand the importance and requirements of accurate working drawings. -- Kevin Freeman, Norwich University of the Arts, UK It is a specific and detailed resource on how to measure and record data for apparel products. -- Sheryl Farnan, Metropolitan Community College, US This is a great book if you are teaching students how to develop a technical package. It has very detailed information about what goes on each sheet. I like the author's approach. She summarizes the standards in retail and gradually explains the importance of the roles involved in the production of a garment. I think the book flows at a great pace and really explains topics well. -- Dyana Harrison, Clary Sage College, US I really like this book because it contains comprehensive coverage of all garment measurement points. I have not found another book that offers this in such a comprehensive way. I like the inclusion of different types of garment examples and worksheets for students to work through. The students like the book because it is very easy to use and is written in a way they can understand. The spiral binding is also a great addition so the book can lay flat. -- Janace Bubonia, Texas Christian University, US It's very easy to reference in how it is laid out overall. Love the addition of menswear and standard body measurements. Also like that there are grade rules for both number and letter sizing. This is by far the best spec book that is currently published. -- Tricia Edwards, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), USMore details
