The Mathematical Education of Engineers

This volume contains selected papers from a conference on the mathematical training of engineers. The expansion of higher education, the decreasing mathematical ability of those entering higher education and the need to maintain competitiveness with continental Europe has provoked much debate both in mathematics and engineering departments and in industry. In this collection of essays, the problems are set out and new developments in mathematics teaching are explained.
