Description
When I began caring for my parents in 2017, I was overwhelmed and completely unprepared. What sustained me, along with a constant, unfiltered conversation with Jesus, was journaling.
My journal helped me manage a maze of doctor's appointment, medications, and daily to-dos. But more than that, it became an important record of the journey I was walking with my parents. I documented everything, from sweet moments when all was calm and right, to the heartbreaking days when only God's strength carried me through.
Eventually the 200,000+ words in my journals (from 2017 to 2025) became the foundation for my books, Walking Each Other Home: A Caregiver's Journey of Grace and Walking Each Other Home: A Caregiver's Devotional.
So pour out your heart, friend. Write about your caregiving moments for the version of 'you' who will one day look back and see how faithfully God carried you through the storms.

Ann-Marie Murrell has worn many hats-author, editor, political commentator, and media producer. But when both of her parents were diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she stepped away from her Los Angeles life to become their full-time caregiver in East Texas. Later, after facing her own diagnosis of Early Onset Alzheimer's, Ann-Marie knew she had to write Walking Each Other Home. Drawing on her deep faith and firsthand experiences, she shares a raw, heartfelt, and honest journey of caregiving in the face of dementia. Her writing is both spiritual and practical, offering a lifeline not only to other caregivers walking the same path, but also as a lasting legacy for her own children.
