Description
Set up in 1890s by the philosopher, John Henry Muirhead, this series was originally published by Allen and Unwin and continued through to the 1970s.
The Muirhead Library of Philosophy was a crucial landmark in the history of modern philosophy and represents a salutary example of commitment to the most important philosophical themes, regardless of methodology or approach. It refused to be swayed by the philosophical fashion of the day and defied classification into 'analytic' or 'continental' camps, foreshadowing the major questioning of this division happening in philosophy today. Consequently, it was to publish some of the most influential yet diverse philosophers of the twentieth century, including Bernard Bosanquet, F.H. Bradley, Edmund Husserl, Henri Bergson and G.E. Moore.
We are delighted to announce the re-issue of many of those works from this prestigious series that have long been out of print or are no longer readily accessible. These are available as a whole set, as individual volumes or as mini-sets.
