Description
This collection of 20 samplers, inspired by individual pieces from the Embroiderers' Guild Collection, has been designed to cover a wide range of types and techniques, so that stitchers will find samplers for different circumstances and different levels of skill. Among the techniques are cross-stitch, canvas-work, crazy patchwork, crewel-work, whitework, applique and machine embroidery. The designs include traditional themes such as a family tree, a map, a house and garden, Adam and Eve, flowers from Victorian Berlin woolwork, and decorative lettering. Full instructions, charts and a colour photograph are provided for all the projects, which are accompanied by photographs of original samplers from the Collection, with information on the development of samplers from the 17th century to the present day.
