Theology and Disability

Theological perspectives on the experience of disability are now a key area within contextual and constructive theologies. In Theology and Disability, Wayne Morris asks to what extent the texts that form most of the traditions considered to be authoritative in Christian theology exclude people with disabilities from contributing to theological understanding.
Wayne Morris engages both theology and disability in critical conversation, and the outcome of this conversation is the development of new insights and challenges that are offered both to Christian theology and to thinking about disability. He recognizes the complexity of speaking about both theology and disability as 'umbrella' terms and so focuses on only one part of the contribution of each conversation partner per chapter. The aim is finally to construct new ways of thinking about theology and disability, conscious that each chapter is never the final word on the subject, but rather that the conversation must continue beyond this book.
